An important note about visas

If you need a visa for travel to Ethiopia (and most people do), then you should do this as soon as possible. We strongly advise that your visa is issued at least three days before you travel. Otherwise you run the risk of being held at the airport until those three days have passed.

It is also advisable to apply and pay for your visa online (even if you are eligible to purchase your visa on arrival). The queues at the airport to purchase a visa can be very long.
