Share the work around your team, communicate often, and finish a draft quickly.\n\t<\/h4>\n<h2>\n\t\tBefore you start\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The third stage of the FlashLab is about making something together. As you begin, take some time to:<\/p>\n<h3>A. Define the project<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>What type of product are you making?<br>\n<em>Is it a document, video, audio, visual, something else, or a combination of different things?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What is the size and format?<br>\n<em>How many pages would be good? How long?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What knowledge or content is needed to begin?<br>\n<em>Is research needed? More conversations? More ideas? More exploration?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>B. Define what skills are needed<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>What production skills are needed to complete your project?<br>\n<em>Do you need writing, graphics, editing, filming, or something else?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Do you have these skills in your team?<br>\n<em>Who else could you invite to help?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>C. Discuss your working process<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Discuss and let team members choose tasks\/roles and work out how to do tasks they don&#8217;t usually do.<br>\n<em>Expect to be stretched! Work with a partner to encourage and support each other.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Set progress deadlines and team expectations.<br>\n<em>Break down the project into small steps with short deadlines.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How will you communicate? How often?<br>\n<em>Are you face to face? Will you use Telegram \/ WhatsApp? Zoom for calls? What is most helpful for everyone? What time zone works for all?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember to have a tone of encouragement and support one other!<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tStart making it\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Get making!<\/p>\n<h3>Some helpful tips on your process<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pray often. Commit the process to the Lord at every stage.<\/li>\n<li>Make a quick and imperfect first draft of your project &#8211; if possible, within a few hours.<\/li>\n<li>Have a fast feedback loop within your team where team members can give their thoughts to help develop the draft.<\/li>\n<li>Allocate small tasks with short deadlines. Create parts of the project quickly and build them together.<\/li>\n<li>Save your files with a version number and have some way of sharing your files easily (Google Drive or similar).<\/li>\n<li>All resources need to be translatable. Share your files in an editable file format (like WORD) that will help translation, as well as providing &#8220;finished files&#8221; (like PDFs).<\/li>\n<li>REMEMBER: It is okay to fail! [FAIL &#8211; First Attempt In Learning]<\/li>\n<li>REMEMBER: It is okay not to be perfect perfection is God&#8217;s role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\tWriting\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Most projects will involve some writing. Here is what we have learned so far &#8230;<\/p>\n<h3>Some helpful tips on writing<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It helps if your team has a production pipeline for example, a person writes a segment, and then passes it to someone else for editing. That person sends it to the next person to lay out the document. Here are some learnings from previous FlashLabs.<\/p>\n<h3>Some helpful tips on design and graphics<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Save time by using a template (FlashLabs have some already).<\/li>\n<li>Stock images \/ footage save a lot of time &#8211; free options include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pexels.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pexels.com<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unsplash.com<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pixabay.com<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/gratisography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gratisography.com<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeimages.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freeimages.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Free Christian images include: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freelyphotos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freelyphotos.com<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creationswap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">creationswap.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your designs can be translated &#8211; do not embed text into pictures.<\/li>\n<li>Use software \/ programs that are readily accessible (or free).<\/li>\n<li>Keep designs simple.<\/li>\n<li>Get help by asking experts.<\/li>\n<li>Learn more by watching tutorials on YouTube.<\/li>\n<li>Use fonts that are accessible and free to others (ie. <a href=\"https:\/\/fonts.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google fonts<\/a> or similar).<\/li>\n<li>Limit use of fonts to a maximum of two per resource.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\tAudio and video\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Some projects will involve audio or video. Here are some learnings from previous FlashLabs.<\/p>\n<h3>Some helpful tips on video<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mobile phones are powerful tools to capture both video and audio.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the camera steady (if possible, use a tripod or rest on something solid).<\/li>\n<li>Limit camera movement &#8211; avoid zooming or panning.
